Welcome

I'm Hanh-Linh (Linh) Tran, a PhD Candidate in Political Science at Emory University. I study the impacts of political violence and the aftermath of civil conflict, with a particular focus on religious persecution and human rights in Southeast Asia. My dissertation examines how experiences of and resistance to repression shape long-term collective action among Vietnamese Catholics. Beyond this, I also study public opinion in democracies. My research has been supported by J-PAL's Governance Initiative, the SEAREG Pre-Dissertation Fellowship, and the Institute for Humane Studies.

I am a co-organizer of the Junior Scholars in Quantitative Conflict Workshop and a member of the South China Sea Data Initiative.

I hold an MA in Political Science from Central European University and a BA in English for International Relations from the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam.

You can reach me at hanh.linh.tran@emory.edu.

A note on my name: Although my full first name is Hanh-Linh, it can be difficult to pronounce. Please feel free to call me Linh, pronounced as either /lin/ or /liɲ/.
